why meditation?


In our modern world the ‘speed of life’, with its often stress inducing, deadline driven and incessant multi-media stimulation, can threaten our equilibrium. With so many time saving devices we seem to have less time. And with less time we have less peace. The outer world invariably and so often reflects our inner state.  Meditation is an ancient yet timeless technique proven to aid in the restoration of mind and body. Scientific research continues to support and reinforce the health and well being benefits of meditation, which is shown to enhance:

  • Our focus and concentration 
  • Our ability to relax the body 
  • Our ability to quieten the mind 
  • Our vitality levels

Research findings are also accumulating around more profound benefits including raised immunity function, improved hormone and fertility levels and lower blood pressure, among other bio medical indicators. The link between mind and body is undoubted and ‘focused’ relaxation, which meditation promotes, is a key to a more balanced state.  

Meditation, perhaps simply put, is ‘time out’. It is time we can put aside to slow down, reconnect and revitalize our minds and bodies. With the employment of simple techniques and practice we can learn to positively contribute to, and nurture, our own well being and happiness.
